The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced that the late registration window for candidates sitting the 2026 national examinations will close at midnight today, July 31, 2026.
The deadline affects candidates for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), with UNEB urging schools to complete all pending registration processes before the cut-off time.
In a final notice issued on Friday, UNEB reminded school heads and directors that it is their responsibility to ensure that all learners in candidate classes are fully registered and not excluded from the examination process
The Board clarified that registration is only considered complete after the issued invoice has been fully paid.
During the late registration phase, PLE candidates are required to pay a 100 per cent surcharge, bringing the total registration fee to Shs68,000. UCE and UACE candidates will pay Shs246,000 and Shs279,000 respectively after a 50 per cent surcharge was applied.
UNEB warned that the expiry of the deadline would mark the end of registration for all examination levels.
“After today’s deadline, there will be no more registration of candidates for all levels,” the Board said.
Heads of examination centres and school inspectors have also been reminded to submit registration files to UNEB before the deadline.
Following the conclusion of registration, UNEB said it will conduct quality assurance procedures before releasing dates for schools to display candidate registers.
Parents and learners will then be required to verify registration status and confirm that submitted biodata is correct ahead of the examinations.
The Board encouraged schools and members of the public seeking further guidance to contact UNEB through its official telephone and toll-free lines.
