National Unity Platform (NUP) activist Paul Musoke is recovering at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital in Kampala after sustaining severe burns in an alleged arson attack.
NUP leaders said Musoke was attacked on Saturday, August 22, 2026, after unidentified assailants allegedly locked him inside a house and set it on fire.
According to NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, Musoke was inside the house when the attackers reportedly secured the building from outside before setting it ablaze.
Neighbours are said to have responded to the scene and managed to rescue him from the burning house.

Musoke sustained extensive burns and was rushed to Kiruddu Hospital for treatment. His condition was described as critical but stable by the evening of August 22.
Rubongoya later visited Musoke at the hospital and said medical workers were attending to him.
The NUP secretary general called for a swift and independent investigation into the incident to establish who was behind the attack and their motive. He also called for those responsible to be held accountable.
Images showing Musoke’s injuries have since circulated among NUP members and supporters on social media, with messages of support and wishes for his recovery.
However, the NUP’s account of the incident has not been independently verified, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or confirmed the circumstances surrounding the fire.
The alleged attack comes amid longstanding complaints by NUP leaders over arrests, disappearances and violence involving some of the party’s members and supporters.
