The Netherlands has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Uganda and supporting efforts to improve the country’s business and investment environment.
Dutch Deputy Ambassador to Uganda, Bouwe-Jan Smeding, said sustained dialogue between government and the private sector is essential to addressing challenges that affect investors and businesses operating in Uganda.
Smeding highlighted investment barriers, tax policy and dispute resolution as key areas where greater clarity and constructive engagement could help businesses navigate challenges and contribute to Uganda’s economic growth.
He said a predictable and supportive investment environment would help strengthen confidence among businesses while creating conditions for deeper economic cooperation between Uganda and the Netherlands.
The Deputy Ambassador also commended Col. Edith Nakalema for her efforts to listen to investors’ concerns and coordinate with government stakeholders to address issues affecting the business community.
He said such coordination was important in ensuring that Uganda remains a secure and investor-friendly destination.
The Netherlands and Uganda have maintained longstanding bilateral relations, with cooperation spanning trade, investment, development, agriculture, climate and other areas of mutual interest.
Smeding’s remarks underline the importance of continued engagement between government and investors as Uganda seeks to attract more private capital, expand businesses and accelerate economic growth.
