Museveni, Janet Welcome Bishop LaDonna Osborn as She Returns to Uganda After 41 Years

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni have welcomed international evangelist Bishop Dr. LaDonna C. Osborn to State House Entebbe as she returns to Uganda ahead of the consecration of Pastor Patience Rwabwogo as an Episcopal Bishop.

Dr. Osborn is in Uganda ahead of the August 23 consecration, bringing with her a decades-long family connection to the country.

During the meeting, Dr. Osborn recalled her first visit to Uganda in 1985, when she travelled with her late mother, who ministered to Ugandans during a difficult period in the country’s history.

The memories also resonated personally with First Lady Janet Museveni, who recalled meeting Dr. Osborn’s mother during that earlier visit.

“She prayed with us and gave each of our children their first Bible, together with one of her books,” Janet Museveni said.

She described the memories of the visit as “very precious” to the Museveni family, adding that Dr. Osborn’s return provided an opportunity to reflect on the longstanding spiritual relationship between her family and Uganda.

President Museveni said the meeting also offered an opportunity to reflect on the transformation Uganda has undergone since Dr. Osborn’s first visit.

“We reflected on Uganda’s transformation over the years and the enduring friendship between the Osborn family and Uganda,” Museveni said.

The First Lady expressed gratitude for Dr. Osborn’s continued affection for Uganda and her support for Pastor Patience Rwabwogo as she prepares to take on her new ecclesiastical responsibilities.

“I pray that God continues to guide and strengthen her in this new responsibility,” Janet Museveni said.

Museveni also wished Pastor Rwabwogo a blessed consecration and welcomed Dr. Osborn back to Uganda.

“I welcome Dr. Osborn back to Uganda and wish Pastor Patience a blessed consecration,” the President said.

For the First Lady, Dr. Osborn’s visit is more than a return by an international evangelist. It reconnects the Museveni family with memories of a previous generation of Christian ministry and a relationship that has endured for more than four decades.

Janet Museveni said she welcomed Dr. Osborn back to Uganda and prayed that her visit would “be a blessing to many.”
