Under the lights of Lugogo Cricket Oval, Vinka did not simply perform on Friday night—she took possession of the moment.
The Swangz Avenue star turned her maiden concert into a pulsating celebration of Afropop, fashion and Ugandan pop culture, drawing thousands of fans who arrived ready to sing, dance and lose themselves in the music.
Powered by Bell Lager and Uganda Waragi, the highly anticipated show unfolded as a carnival of sound and colour, bringing together a cross-generational crowd that transformed the venue into a moving sea of bodies, voices and flashing lights.
From the instant she stepped onto the stage, Vinka looked every inch the pop star she has become.
Her wardrobe changes were as deliberate as her music—bold, glamorous and unapologetically vibrant. Each look arrived with its own attitude, complementing a performance driven by choreography, confidence and the kind of restless energy that keeps a crowd locked in.
Then came the hits.
Vinka opened to a thunderous reception before launching into “Love Panic,” immediately sending fans to their feet. But it was “Chips Na Ketchup” that turned Lugogo into one enormous choir, with thousands of voices carrying the song back to its creator.
She moved effortlessly through fan favourites including “All Over You,” “Lalala” and “Gunkwase,” shifting between playful Afropop grooves and explosive dance-floor moments.
The concert’s greatest strength, however, was the chemistry between performer and audience.
Vinka knew when to command the stage, when to dance with her crew and when to simply let the crowd take over. At several points, the distinction between artist and audience seemed to disappear, replaced by one giant chorus moving to the same beat.
For an artist whose career has been built around infectious melodies, fearless fashion and an unmistakable personality, the Lugogo show felt less like a debut and more like a coronation.
It was a reminder that Ugandan pop has its own language—one spoken through rhythm, colour, movement and communal celebration.
Lillian Kansiime, Bell Brand Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited, said the atmosphere captured exactly what the partnership hoped to create.
“What a night! Vinka gave Kampala exactly what it came for. You could feel the connection between her and the crowd, with people singing, dancing and enjoying every moment. That is what great music should do.”
She added that Bell was proud to support Vinka’s milestone and celebrate Ugandan talent on such a major stage.
By the time the final notes faded into the Kampala night, Lugogo Cricket Oval had become more than a concert venue. It was a dance floor, a fashion runway and a giant celebration of an artist who has steadily carved her own space in Uganda’s Afropop story.
Vinka came to Lugogo for her first major solo concert.
She left having made the night unmistakably hers.
